Teddy Bear Clinic
What: A story, medical education, therapeutic medical art activity, and medical checkup play will be facilitated by a Certified Child Life Specialist with volunteer assistance from child life and nursing students. We will provide developmentally appropriate medical education, teach coping skills, and give kids a sense of control with their own medical experiences by guiding them as they give their personal teddy bear a checkup!
Why: to help make doctor visits less scary for your child and empower he or she to be able to get through challenging experiences. We aim to promote positive coping through a "Dose of Play."
Where: WIPP courtyard (classroom as alternative). Masks will be worn by facilitators.
When (choose 1 session when you register below): Friday, March 5th, 12:00. Students will be lined up for pick up starting at 12:55.
Who: This event on 3/5/21 is designated for the children in the 3’s classrooms. Younger siblings are allowed to join the same event. Be sure to submit registration and payment for each child. Max participants is 15 (we may extend that as needed and amount of student volunteers are available). The event is subject to being cancelled if less than 8 children are registered at the 24 hour mark prior to the start of the event.
Cost: $15/child. Along with the playful educational experience, children will take home a Dose of Play doctor bag (tote), kid safe medical items for play, doctor ID badge, and a "Doctor for a Day" certificate!!
Each child needs to bring their own (clean) teddy bear or favorite stuffed animal from home the day of the event they are registered for. If your child or anyone in your household is exhibiting symptoms of Covid-19, please keep your child home and follow CDC quarantine guidelines.
